EXPERT TIP

When brushing the tips of your hair, use your left hand to hold the knot in place so the style is not disrupted by brushing.

HOW TO ACHIEVE THE LOOK

STEP 1

Wash and condition hair.

STEP 2

Towel-dry hair until damp and scrunch with a towel to help prevent damage and split ends.

STEP 3

Place a quarter-sized amount of straightening crème in the palm of your hand; rub your hands together and work them through your hair from root to tip, ensuring the crème is evenly distributed.

STEP 4

Blow-dry hair completely using a skeleton brush. Once dry, use a skeleton brush to gather hair in a low ponytail approximately 2-3 inches above the nape of the neck. Before securing the ponytail, smooth the middle of your head first, then the right and left sides of your hair with a skeleton brush. Once the front is completely smooth, secure the ponytail with a rubber band.

STEP 5

Create a knot with the ponytail, leaving the ends free. Secure the knot to your head using 3-5 bobby pins, placing the bobby pins concentrically around the knot, ends pointing inward. The first bobby pin should be placed through the center of the knot, with the knot covering the rubber band.

STEP 6

Place a pea-sized amount of styling crème in the palm of your hand; rub your hands together and work them through the ends of the knot. Lightly brush through the ends of the hair, ensuring they are pointing down.

STEP 7

To complete this knot hairstyle, spray hair all over with strong-hold hairspray. If desired, spray a shine spray throughout your hair.
